Quick Troubleshooting
Check these common fixes first. You might save yourself a wait.
Try a plunger first. For a running toilet, lift the tank lid and check if the flapper is sealing properly. Sometimes jiggling the handle resets it. If neither works, submit a request and we'll send a plumber out.
Check your breaker panel first. If a breaker has tripped, flip it fully off, then back on. If just one outlet is dead, look for a nearby GFCI outlet (the one with the reset/test buttons) and press reset. If the whole building is out, check with SDG&E for outage info before submitting.
Check the water heater thermostat. Make sure it isn't in "vacation" mode or set too low. Try resetting it and wait 15-20 minutes. If you have a gas water heater, check that the pilot light is lit. Still no hot water? Submit a request and we'll get it handled.
Check your thermostat settings. Make sure it's set to "heat" or "cool" (not "off" or "fan only") and the temperature is set appropriately. Check your air filter too. A clogged filter can shut down the system. If those are fine, submit a request and we'll send our HVAC tech.
Never put your hand in the disposal. Look under the sink for a small reset button (usually red) on the bottom of the unit and press it. You can also try using an Allen wrench in the hex opening at the bottom to manually rotate the blades. If it's still stuck, submit a request.
A single beep every 30-60 seconds usually means the battery is low. Replace it with a 9V battery. If it's a hardwired unit that keeps chirping after battery replacement, try holding the test button for 15 seconds. Tenants are responsible for replacing smoke detector batteries.
